Future Center Visit

On Wednesday 26th of September 2012. Me and my class mates leading us Mr. Gregory Vrhovnik did a visit to the Future Center. Future Center is special needs school operated by Abu Dhabi Ministry of Social Affairs. We were introduced by a presentation and short video described Future Center goals, achievements and the purpose.

Some of Future Center goals are: To equip individuals with disabilities with the necessary knowledge and skills to enable them to realize their full potential, in a safe, secure, and stimulating environment, in order for them to lead fulfilling lives; To increase public awareness of disabilities and to empower the various stakeholders with appropriate knowledge and skills in dealing with people with disabilities.

Some of Future Center achievements are: Winner Of 2009-2010 Khalifa Award Special Needs Category;2011 Award  For Outstanding Director - Princess Haya Award For Special Education.;70 special need students are now at regular schools and colleges;7 special need previous students now working and they have jobs.

Then we were taken around to see different classes and subject’s students take like Therapies, Education and Sports. After that we meet part of the students and we play and dance with them in the gym. Even though the staff faces challenges like understand the special need of each individual student then work toward improve their skills, educate and awaken their potential. Regardless of all difficulties the staffs were very friendly and supportive with students.

In the end we took memorial picture with the staff and students. It was very joyful experience and it makes me reconsider my thoughts about myself. Now am daily very thankful and happy for the abilities and Graces I have. Special needs are very hard working to educate and change their future they are always happy and have faith that tomorrow will be better.Cultural diversity is strengthen the education environment, Opens new horizons and new hopes for Future Center.
