Personal reflection 5
What did you learned from culture diversity?
Cultural diversity is quit an interesting course for me.
It’s not typical subject like math or physic. It’s more of a living skill than
an educational subject. During the course of culture diversity, Mr. Gregory
asked us to use blogger to post our assignments and because of that, now I know
a lot about blogger and how to post, edit and share my ideas and thought about
a subject with the people.
First thing that I learned from culture diversity subject is what makes me Emirati and what being Emirati feels and look like. Cultural diversity reminded me of who I am and made me appreciate my cultural and heritages. I learned from cultural diversity course that cultural diversity is important and essential to the country community. Because our country, our workplaces and our schools include persons of various ethnics groups and interests. The diversity of a community strengthens it and Opens new horizons and new hopes for more ideas and solutions.
I learned that we can learn from one another, but first we must have a level of understanding about one another in order to work together. Cultural diversity taught me to look at people from different aspects and prospective to learn from their cultural background.
I witnessed how cultural diversity is important during our trip to the future center .I saw how different people from different cultures and nationalities are located in one place (future center). Each one of them bringing different experience, technics and methods to help special need people and finding solutions and ideas to develop special need people ability’s.
I learned a lot of terminologies and definitions related to diversity that I didn’t know before. I learned that two country’s culture could be similar to each other in their belief and values elements. We took Cambodian and Emirati values comparison as an example.it was interesting how much the two countries are similar to each other.
In relation to how similar values of two countries could be, we talked about what it is the gap year, when it should be taken, where somebody can travel to and how taking gap year could benefit someone future and perhaps change it to the better. It was interesting how my thoughts were before explanation of gap year and after. Before I thought that taking gap year is just waste of time but it’s the opposite if someone make use of it .I used to blame myself for leaving education and going to work for two years and coming back to study again. Now I look at it in different way. I looked at it as a taking two year gap and not think in the concept of should've what if could have any more.
At last of the course we learned how to do presentation in a correct manner. Preparing the presentation in a group taught us how to team work together to make it happened. Teamwork is important especially in engineering. I learn from Mr. Gregory some important elements like seriousness, correct ordering, hardworking and how to make people pay attention when you talks. At the end thanks to my colleagues and to my teacher Mr. Gregory for the efforts.
